The engine

V16 Hybrid

NA V16 Hybrid

A naturally-aspirated V16 that revs to 9,000 rpm with an exotic, orchestral howl no turbo could mask, backed by three electric motors for instant, all-wheel-drive launch and silent electric running.

Engineered by Cosworth in the UK for the Chiron-successor Tourbillon, replacing the W16 with a brand-new free-breathing sixteen built at Bugatti in Molsheim, France.

Cosworth calls it their most powerful naturally-aspirated engine ever, with the V16 alone making nearly 1,000 hp before the hybrid system.
Its crankshaft is machined from a single billet and measures about 900 mm, yet the whole engine weighs only around 252 kg.
Despite displacing 8.35 litres with 16 cylinders, it is lighter than the V12 in the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
