The legendary Mezger flat-six delivers smooth, surging twin-turbo thrust with race-bred mechanical integrity, revered for sounding and feeling like a thoroughbred descendant of Porsche's endurance racers.

Designed around the architecture pioneered by Hans Mezger and built in Stuttgart, Germany, its internals trace directly to the 962 Le Mans and 911 GT1 race engines. The 997.1 Turbo (2006) was the last turbocharged Mezger 911.

• Unlike contemporary 911 engines, the Mezger uses dry-sump lubrication and is famously free of the IMS bearing failure that plagued other water-cooled flat-sixes.
