GM's 'Gemini' small-block LT7, built in the USA, combined with an electric front drive unit for the electrified apex Corvette — the car long rumoured as the 'Zora' and ultimately badged ZR1X.

• The electric front motor adds 186 hp and turns the rear-drive Corvette into an eAWD hybrid hypercar with a combined 1,250 hp.
• A 'Stealth Mode' lets it creep along on electric power alone for a few miles at low speed.
• Because the electric motor drives the front wheels and the V8 the rears, the two power sources are mechanically independent.
• Enthusiasts spent a decade expecting this car to be called “Zora,” after Corvette's founding engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov — Chevrolet even holds the trademark — but the production car was badged ZR1X instead, where the X denotes electrified all-wheel drive.
