5.5L Flat-Plane V8

The LT6 is the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 ever fitted to a production car — a 5.5-liter flat-plane screamer that spins to 8,600 rpm and shrieks like a European exotic rather than a traditional pushrod Chevy.

Hand-built in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the LT6 breaks from GM's small-block pushrod tradition with a flat-plane crank and four overhead cams, engineered to rival Ferrari — and it shares its core architecture with the C8.R endurance racer.

At 670 hp it's the highest-output naturally-aspirated V8 in any production car, period.
Its flat-plane crank fires the cylinders evenly side-to-side, giving that exotic Ferrari-like wail instead of the lumpy small-block burble.
