Flat-Plane Twin-Turbo V8

A flat-plane-crank, dual-overhead-cam twin-turbo V8 that screams to 8,000 rpm with an exotic, Ferrari-like wail unlike any pushrod Corvette before it, combining a manic top-end with brutal boosted thrust.

GM's clean-sheet 'Gemini' small-block architecture, designed in Michigan and unrelated to the old LS pushrod engines; the LT7 is the turbocharged sibling of the naturally aspirated LT6 from the Corvette Z06.

It is the first turbocharged factory engine in the Corvette's 70-plus-year history.
At around 1,064 hp, the LT7 is the most powerful V8 ever fitted to a production American car.
The Gemini program developed naturally aspirated and turbo flat-plane V8s in tandem — engineers reportedly nicknamed the twin development engines 'Thelma' and 'Louise'.
