Engineered and built by Porsche in Zuffenhausen, Germany, the 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six powered the 991-generation 911 Turbo S from 2013 onward, continuing the boxer layout central to the 911 since 1963.

• The flat layout keeps the engine's center of gravity low and slung behind the rear axle, a defining 911 trait.
• The 991.2 update raised output to 580 PS and 750 Nm while sharpening throttle response.
• Porsche's PDK dual-clutch gearbox pairs with this engine to enable repeatable, near-instant launches.
