5.9L Twin-Turbo V8

A flat-plane-crank twin-turbo V8 built specifically for the Tuatara, chasing an extremely high rev ceiling for a forced-induction engine of this size. On E85 it makes power figures usually reserved for drag racing.

Developed with Nelson Racing Engines in California as a clean-sheet design for SSC, rather than an adapted production block.

Output nearly doubles between pump gas and E85, so the headline number depends entirely on fuel.
The flat-plane crank lets it rev far higher than a typical American V8.
It was designed from scratch for this car instead of being borrowed from another manufacturer.
