The verdict

What's good

  • Final naturally aspirated V12 Aventador, giving this car a permanent collector narrative
  • Higher output than any prior Aventador while retaining the pure analog character
  • Appreciating market value trajectory makes this a viable long-term asset hold
  • Titanium exhaust note is among the most celebrated sounds in modern automotive history

What's not

  • ISR automated manual gearbox produces jerky shifts in city traffic conditions
  • Rearward visibility requires full reliance on cameras; direct sight is nearly zero
  • High servicing costs require major dealer access with specialized Lamborghini tooling
  • Cabin is narrow and hot for taller drivers on anything beyond short drives

The engine

L539

Naturally Aspirated V12

A ferocious, free-revving naturally aspirated V12 that climbs to 8,500 rpm with a hard-edged metallic wail, delivering its power in a building, addictive top-end rush.

Codenamed L539, this clean-sheet 6.5L V12 was developed entirely in-house at Sant'Agata Bolognese under CTO Maurizio Reggiani for the 2011 Aventador — only the second all-new V12 in Lamborghini history.
