1.5L Turbo I4 Mild Hybrid

A small turbo four with light electric assistance that fills in low-end torque, aiming for responsive, efficient around-town drivability rather than outright power.

Mitsubishi's 4B40 turbocharged 1.5-liter, first seen in the Eclipse Cross, adapted with a mild-hybrid system to replace the older naturally aspirated 2.5-liter in the Outlander.

It actually makes slightly less peak horsepower than the 2.5-liter it replaced, but produces more torque lower in the rev range.
The mild-hybrid setup focuses assistance in the low-to-mid rpm band where most everyday driving happens.
