The engine

2.0L Turbo I4 Hybrid

A boosted four that trades cylinders for instant electric torque-fill, giving the hybrid Jeep brisk low-end shove and near-silent EV crawl while the turbo four does the heavy lifting.

Built on Stellantis's Global Medium Engine (GME-T4) architecture, originally developed under Fiat Chrysler; U.S. units are produced in Kokomo, Indiana.

The same GME architecture is the basis for the larger 3.0L Hurricane inline-six that powers cars like the Dodge Charger.
In the 4xe plug-in hybrid setup it pairs with a belt-start generator and a traction motor integrated into the transmission for full electric-only driving.
Production for the U.S. market was relocated to a repurposed former transmission plant in Kokomo rather than its originally rumored Michigan home.
