Porsche's new 9A3-generation flat-six is hybrid-assisted for sharper-than-ever response, with an electric motor in the gearbox and an electrically-spun turbo that all but eliminates lag.

A clean-sheet 3.6-liter flat-six for the 992.2 911 Carrera GTS, with hybrid tech drawing directly on lessons from Porsche's Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid prototype.

Its eTurbo houses a 27-hp electric motor between the turbine and compressor that spools the turbo instantly and recovers exhaust energy, echoing the 919 Hybrid.
This is the first-ever series-production 911 with a hybrid powertrain.
The roughly 1.9 kWh battery is tuned for maximum power deployment rather than storage, and the car cannot drive on electricity alone.
