The engine

Predator

Supercharged V8

A supercharged, cross-plane V8 with a deep, hard-edged snarl and a savage top-end, spinning to 7,400 rpm and delivering monstrous, sustained power for road and track.

Ford's 5.2-litre 'Predator' V8, originally developed for the 2020 Shelby GT500 and heavily reworked for the Mustang GTD — itself a road-legal offshoot of Ford's Mustang GT3 racing program.

Unlike the flat-plane-crank 'Voodoo' 5.2 in the Shelby GT350, the Predator uses a cross-plane crankshaft for its distinctive deep V8 rumble.
For the GTD, Ford added a dry-sump oiling system, a smaller supercharger pulley and reworked breathing to push output to around 815 hp, well beyond the GT500's tune.
The GTD wears a lightweight titanium Akrapovič exhaust to shape the supercharged V8's signature sound.
