2.5L Turbo I4

A torque-forward turbo four that prioritizes immediate, lag-free response over top-end drama, feeling muscular and relaxed from just off idle.

Mazda's first turbocharged SkyActiv-G engine, it launched in the 2016 CX-9 and now serves the CX-5 and CX-50, built on Mazda's high-efficiency combustion philosophy.

Its Dynamic Pressure Turbo mimics variable geometry by routing exhaust through narrow channels below about 1,620 rpm to spool quickly and kill lag.
It uses a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and cooled exhaust-gas recirculation, hallmarks of Mazda's SkyActiv combustion approach.
