The engine

M158

Twin-Turbo V12

A bespoke twin-turbo V12 with a rich, operatic voice and massive, immediate torque — Pagani specified smaller turbos and revised intercooling to sharpen throttle response and cut lag. The delivery is relentless yet tractable.

The M158 was developed by Mercedes-AMG specifically for the Pagani Huayra and is hand-built at AMG's Affalterbach headquarters, where only a tiny handful of master technicians are trusted to assemble it.

At Pagani’s request the engine uses smaller turbochargers, revised intercooling and bespoke ECU mapping to improve response over a standard AMG V12.
It uses dry-sump lubrication, allowing it to mount lower for a lower center of gravity and to resist oil surge under high cornering loads.
Only about two AMG master technicians are entrusted to build each of these V12s by hand.
