The verdict

What's good

The manual gearbox enthusiasts spent three years asking for, and it costs nothing extra
Brake hardware borrowed from the company's supercar, which you feel most on the third hard lap rather than the first
Shedding weight off the front axle changed the way it turns in, not just how it stops
Arrives with the tyres, the differential and the cooling a track day actually asks for, rather than as a list of things to add later

What's not

Fuel consumption is genuinely poor, and the manual makes it worse than the automatic
Fixed-back competition seats and the stiff suspension wear on you outside of a good road
The infotainment and cabin design are unchanged and were already dated
You pay a large premium over the mid grade for hardware most owners will never fully use

The engine

VR30DDTT NISMO

Twin-Turbo V6

The same compact twin-turbo V6 as the rest of the range, turned up for the NISMO with more boost and a wider torque plateau, and for 2027 retuned again specifically for the manual gearbox so throttle and ignition respond more sharply between shifts.

An evolution of Nissan's VQ family drawing on the company's endurance racing programmes, built at Iwaki in Fukushima, Japan, and upgraded for NISMO duty with cooling and boost-control hardware developed for the GT-R.

The manual car gets its own engine calibration rather than a shared one, tuned to hold torque longer so the driver is not caught between gears.
New two-piece iron-and-aluminium front rotors derived from the GT-R cut nineteen pounds of unsprung weight, and the suspension and steering were retuned to suit the lighter nose.
Nissan charges nothing to choose the manual over the nine-speed automatic, in either direction.
The manual uses an upgraded clutch and a shorter shift stroke than the gearbox fitted to the cheaper grades.
