Dual-Motor Electric
One motor per axle gives strong, quiet, fully variable all-wheel-drive thrust with a clever disconnect that can drop to a single driven axle to stretch range when you're just cruising.
The 'Enduro' drive units were designed and developed in-house by Rivian at its Normal, Illinois operations, debuting in 2023 to reduce reliance on outside-supplied motors and ease semiconductor supply pressure.
