Polestar is the Swedish performance EV brand spun out of Volvo and owned by Geely; the Polestar 4 rides on Geely's SEA electric platform, while the flagship Polestar 5 uses Polestar's own bonded-aluminium Polestar Performance Architecture (PPA).

The Polestar 4's dual-motor setup can mechanically disconnect its front motor, letting the car coast as a rear-driver to save energy when full grip isn't needed.
The Polestar 5 steps up to an 800-volt electrical architecture, enabling much faster DC charging than the 400-volt Polestar 4.
Polestar began life as Volvo's racing and tuning partner before being relaunched in 2017 as a standalone electric performance marque.
