The 2UR-GSE is a hard-revving, naturally aspirated V8 that pulls cleanly past 7,000 rpm with a low growl that hardens into a metallic howl near its 7,300 rpm redline, an analog antidote to turbo V8s.

Part of Toyota's UR engine family and developed with input from Yamaha, it debuted in the 2008 Lexus IS F and now serves the LC 500, RC F and IS 500.

• Yamaha contributed high-flow cylinder heads, and the engine breathes through titanium intake valves and a dual-length intake.
• It uses Toyota's D-4S system, running both port and direct injection.
• Production of this naturally aspirated V8 is winding down, making the LC 500 and IS 500 among the last of their kind.
