Twin-Turbo Inline-6

A ferociously revvy, smooth-spinning straight-six that pulls hard to a high redline with the trademark balanced creaminess only an inline-six delivers, backed by a snarling top-end.

Developed by BMW M in Munich as the high-performance heart of the M2, M3 and M4, built atop the architecture of the regular B58 six but extensively reinforced for sustained abuse.

Its cylinder head is 3D-printed, allowing internal cooling passages that conventional casting simply cannot reproduce.
It uses a closed-deck block (versus the B58's open deck) for extra rigidity to withstand high boost pressure.
A motorsport derivative, the P58, races in the M4 GT3, underscoring how overbuilt the road engine's core is.
