Front and rear motors deliver instant, silent torque and all-wheel-drive grip — turning the F-150 Lightning into a startlingly quick truck and giving the Mach-E genuine pony-car urgency off the line.

Ford's first-generation EVs: the Mach-E rides on the Global Electrified 1 (GE1) platform derived from the C2 architecture under the Focus and Escape, while the Lightning electrifies the full-size F-150 body.

The Mach-E's GE1 platform is a heavily reworked version of the combustion C2 architecture, not a clean-sheet EV skateboard.
The F-150 Lightning's huge battery doubles as a mobile generator, able to power tools, a campsite, or even a home during an outage.
Ford CEO Jim Farley later called these first-gen EVs 'designed the wrong way,' and the Lightning was slated to end production after struggling to turn a profit.
