Single Electric Motor (RWD)

A rear-mounted permanent-magnet motor that gives the base Mach-E genuine rear-drive character, with instant, linear torque and a deliberately Mustang-flavored balance.

Built on Ford's Global Electrified 1 (GE1) platform, developed by an in-house EV group named Team Edison and derived from Ford's C2 architecture used under the Focus and Escape.

The rear-drive unit combines a permanent-magnet motor, single-speed planetary gearbox and a silicon-carbide inverter for efficiency.
Placing the single motor on the rear axle was a deliberate choice to preserve a rear-wheel-drive feel fitting the Mustang name.
The same GE1 platform scales from this single-motor RWD setup to a dual-motor AWD layout simply by adding a front motor.
