The engine

Nano

2.7L Twin-Turbo V6

Compact and punchy, the twin-turbo 'Nano' V6 delivers V8-rivaling torque from low revs, making it feel deceptively muscular in everything from the Bronco to the hot Edge ST.

Part of Ford's EcoBoost downsizing program and nicknamed 'Nano,' it debuted in the 2015 F-150 and is built around an unusually tough block design before spreading to the Bronco, Ranger and Edge ST.

The block's upper section is cast from compacted graphite iron, the same high-strength material Ford uses in its Power Stroke diesels, far tougher than ordinary cast iron.
A die-cast aluminium ladder frame bolts to the bottom of the iron block, blending the rigidity of iron with weight savings.
In the Edge ST it was tuned to its highest 335 hp, more than in the trucks that the engine is best known for.
