The verdict

What's good

  • Gas engine charges the battery on the go
  • No range anxiety on long hauls
  • Silent, instant electric pulling power
  • Can power tools and a campsite

What's not

  • Brand-new tech with no track record
  • Heavy battery cuts into payload
  • Costs far more than a gas Ram
  • Slower fills at older chargers

The engine

Dual Electric + V6 Range Extender Hybrid EREV

Dual-Motor EREV (V6 Range Extender)

Two permanent-magnet motors deliver instant, all-wheel-drive shove with no gear shifts, while a gasoline V6 quietly generates electricity in the background, banishing range anxiety without ever turning the wheels mechanically.

The Ramcharger is built on Stellantis' STLA Frame platform; its range-extender is the long-serving 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, an engine family Stellantis has produced since 2010, here repurposed purely as an onboard generator.
