From PSA's DW10 family — the first PSA diesel to use common-rail injection under the 'HDi' name, replacing the XUD9 in 1999 — later updated with SCR-based BlueHDi tech for the Peugeot/Citroën Traveller and Ford-badged vans.

• The DW10 traces to a 1998 PSA-Ford diesel joint venture, so close relatives of this engine powered a wide range of Ford, Peugeot, Citroën, Volvo and Jaguar-Land Rover vehicles.
• 'BlueHDi' refers to its emissions hardware — a selective catalytic reduction system using AdBlue urea injection placed ahead of the particulate filter to cut NOx for Euro 6 compliance.
• It uses a variable-geometry turbocharger to deliver strong boost across a wide rev range despite the engine's large displacement.
