The verdict

What's good

  • Seven-seat family hauler at a price that undercuts MPV rivals sharply
  • Reliable Suzuki platform keeps service costs predictably low
  • Fold-flat third row creates genuine cargo flexibility when not in use
  • Tall roofline gives rear passengers noticeably better headroom than crossovers

What's not

  • Driver engagement is very low — pure appliance character
  • Rear visibility is restricted making reversing reliant on the camera
  • Performance is clearly insufficient for confident highway merging fully loaded
  • Side wind sensitivity on motorways requires active steering correction

The engine

K15B

1.5L I4

A naturally aspirated, rev-happy four that trades turbo punch for honesty and durability, peaking around 105 PS high in the range. In the featherweight Jimny it feels willing rather than fast, which suits the car's go-anywhere brief.

Part of Suzuki's K-engine family, the K15B debuted in 2018 in the Maruti Ertiga and Ciaz before powering the fourth-generation Jimny. It is an all-aluminium, open-deck DOHC design developed largely for Suzuki's India-built global models.
