The engine

M139

Electric-Turbo 2.0L I4 PHEV

The world's most powerful production four-cylinder, this hand-built turbo four screams to a high redline and is paired with a rear electric motor for a combined system output that bullies cars twice its cylinder count. Throttle response is razor-sharp thanks to an electrically assisted turbo that all but eliminates lag.

Each M139 is hand-assembled at AMG's Affalterbach plant under the 'one man, one engine' philosophy; the E Performance plug-in hybrid system and its e-turbo are direct technology transfers from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 team.
