2.4L Turbo I4 Hybrid

A performance-tuned hybrid that blends instant electric torque with a hard-charging turbo four, making the RX 500h the most powerful Lexus RX ever and giving it surprisingly athletic responses.

Built around the T24A-FTS, a member of Toyota's Dynamic Force engine family first introduced in 2021 for the Lexus NX; in the 500h it's paired with front and rear electric motors and Lexus's DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system.

• The front electric motor is sandwiched directly between the turbo engine and a six-speed automatic, with clutches on each side so it can drive the car with or without the petrol engine.
• The DIRECT4 system continuously shuffles torque front-to-rear electronically, the first time such a setup appeared on a Lexus RX.
• It uses a twin-scroll turbocharger and the same dual port-and-direct injection strategy Toyota uses to keep the valves clean.
