Part of Toyota's Dynamic Force engine family launched in 2017, the A25A-FKS is built in Japan and shared across the Toyota/Lexus range including the RAV4, Camry and Lexus NX 250.

It uses Toyota's D-4S system that combines both direct and port fuel injection, switching between them by load.
Its thermal efficiency reaches roughly 40-41%, among the highest for a non-hybrid gasoline engine.
The combustion chamber uses a high-speed laser-clad valve seat and a tall, narrow intake port to generate strong tumble for faster, cleaner burning.
