A small turbocharged four that musters its torque low in the rev range, giving the Equinox a peppy, responsive feel around town while prioritizing efficiency.

The LYX is part of GM's modular small-displacement Ecotec engine family, with an all-aluminum block and head and direct injection.

It makes its peak torque from as low as around 2,000 rpm, masking its small displacement in daily driving.
It shares its Ecotec architecture with other GM engines but uses unique cam timing and a tailored turbocharger.
It served as the Equinox's base engine from 2018 through 2022 before GM moved to the related 1.5L LSD.
