Twin-Turbo V6

After two decades of lazy V8 muscle, the QX80 switched to a boosted V6 that hits harder and revs more eagerly, with crisp throttle response and a torque-rich mid-range that arrives early and stays flat.

A turbocharged evolution of Nissan's long-running VR-series V6, shared with the Nissan Patrol/Armada and developed within the Nissan-Infiniti corporate stable.

It replaced the 5.6-liter 'Endurance' V8 that had powered the big Infiniti SUV since the QX56 debuted in 2004.
Infiniti's chief planner called its 516 lb-ft the highest torque figure in the company's history, despite displacing well under the old V8.
Active grille shutters open and close to balance cooling against aerodynamic drag.
