A torquey, eager turbo four that comes on boost early and pulls hard, giving humble Hyundais a genuinely punchy turn of speed.

Part of Hyundai's Smartstream engine family, the turbocharged 2.5T (codes G4KP/G4KR) was developed as a clean break from the troubled earlier Theta II generation, with a focus on durability and efficiency.

It uses a dual-injection setup combining both direct and port injection, which helps keep intake valves clean and fights the carbon buildup common to direct-injection-only engines.
The same 2.5T architecture is shared across the Hyundai-Kia-Genesis group, powering everything from the Sonata N Line to the Santa Cruz pickup and the entry Genesis G70.
