1.5L Turbo I4

A frugal, modern small-displacement turbo four tuned for everyday efficiency, with its modest torque made usable across a wide plateau rather than chasing peak numbers.

GM's EcoTec 1.5-liter LYX, part of a family of small-displacement modular engines with direct injection, debuted as the base engine in the 2018 GMC Terrain and Chevrolet Equinox.

Its 203 lb-ft of torque is fully available across a broad 2,000-to-4,000-rpm band for easy real-world drivability.
GM later evolved it into the closely related LSD engine, treating the update as a refinement for combustion and emissions rather than a new design.
It runs happily on regular 87-octane fuel despite being turbocharged and direct-injected.
