The engine

AC Electric Motor

A single AC motor driving the front wheels with instant, near-silent torque, it makes the big E-Ducato smooth and effortless around town where delivery vans earn their keep.

Built on the front-drive Ducato platform shared with Stellantis and PSA, E-Ducato gliders are assembled at Sevel Sud in Atessa, Italy, then fitted with their electric drivetrain at Fiat's Mirafiori plant in Turin.

Its drivetrain electronics were developed in partnership with solar-inverter specialist SolarEdge rather than a traditional engine supplier.
The battery uses a parallel-connected modular architecture, so the pack can keep operating even if one module drops out — an unusual safeguard for a working van.
