The verdict

What's good

  • Body configurations span panel van, minibus, and motorhome base with one platform
  • High roof option allows standing room for trades professionals loading tools
  • Best-in-class internal width makes side-by-side euro pallet loading straightforward
  • Extensive aftermarket conversion ecosystem across Europe reduces upfit lead times

What's not

  • Driver cab ergonomics feel dated compared to Transit or Sprinter rivals
  • High-speed motorway ride is noticeably harsh without payload
  • Lane-keep and emergency braking only standard on higher trim levels
  • Turning circle is wide enough to require multiple passes in tight yards

The engine

MultiJet

2.2L Turbodiesel I4

A stout, torque-led commercial diesel built for hauling, delivering its pull low in the rev range for loaded vans and motorhomes.

The Ducato is co-developed by FCA and PSA and built at the Sevel joint-venture plant; its 2.2L diesel exists in two forms — Fiat's own MultiJet 3 'Family B' from Pratola Serra, Italy, and the PSA-derived DW12 2.2L from Trémery, France, which the European Ducato adopted in 2023.
