Naturally Aspirated V8

An old-school naturally aspirated pushrod V8 that trades turbo drama for a deep, lazy wall of torque and an unmistakable American small-block rumble.

The L87 is part of GM's Gen-5 Small-Block (EcoTec3) family and is assembled at GM's historic Tonawanda, New York plant, which has built powertrains since the late 1930s.

Despite its size it uses cylinder deactivation to run on fewer cylinders when cruising to save fuel.
It is an all-aluminum, direct-injected design shared with GM's full-size trucks and SUVs.
The Escalade-V steps up to a supercharged LT4 version rather than this naturally aspirated unit.
