Turbocharged 3.0L V6

A flexible, strong-pulling single-turbo V6 that delivers boost early thanks to its compact layout, giving cars like the SQ5 effortless, refined muscle across the rev range.

Co-developed by Audi and Porsche and introduced in 2016, the EA839 was the first engine under a group strategy that put Audi in charge of V6s and Porsche in charge of V8s.

It uses a 'hot vee' layout with the turbocharger nestled inside the cylinder banks, shortening the exhaust path so boost builds faster and emissions hardware heats quickly.
The single-turbo 3.0L and the twin-turbo 2.9L used in hotter RS models are essentially the same engine in different states of tune.
It shares its core hot-vee architecture with the group's larger 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.
