4.0L Twin-Turbo V8

AMG's legendary hot-vee 4.0-liter biturbo V8, famous for its hammering, bassy soundtrack and explosive, deep mid-range thrust that defines the modern AMG character.

Designed by Mercedes-AMG and hand-assembled in Affalterbach, Germany; the M177 succeeded the M157 and is so respected that Aston Martin adopted it for several of its own cars.

The two turbochargers sit inside the vee of the engine in a hot-vee layout, shrinking the package and sharpening throttle response.
Each engine is built by a single technician under AMG's 'One Man, One Engine' philosophy, with the builder's signature plate fixed on top.
Cylinder bores use Nanoslide, a plasma-sprayed iron coating that cuts friction and weight versus traditional liners.
