3.6L Atkinson V6 Plug-in Hybrid

An Atkinson-cycle V6 tuned for efficiency over urgency, working through a dual-motor electric transaxle so the Pacifica slips along on near-silent electric power before the engine quietly joins in.

It is an Atkinson-tuned version of Chrysler's Pentastar V6, mated to the in-house eFlite electrically variable transmission and developed in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The engine runs the Atkinson combustion cycle with a high 12.5:1 compression ratio to cut pumping losses and boost efficiency.
The eFlite transaxle uses two electric motors that can both drive the wheels, and one normally acting as a generator can also add propulsion when needed.
The Pacifica Hybrid was the first plug-in hybrid minivan sold in North America.
