Bugatti's 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 is one of engineering's great extravagances — sixteen cylinders and four turbochargers conspiring to make over 1,500 hp with serene, otherworldly smoothness.

Created to make the original Veyron the fastest car on earth, the W16 packs two narrow-angle V8s into one block and has defined every Bugatti hypercar since 2005.

At full power the W16 moves enough air every minute to empty a large room, and can drink its fuel tank in minutes flat.
It needs ten radiators just to keep cool.
