Street-tuned rather than trail-tuned, which is a rare thing among factory Ram 1500 specials

A button hands the four-wheel-drive system back to the rear axle when you want it out of the way

The engine

HEMI

5.7L V8

The 5.7-litre HEMI makes 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft and sounds like the muscle truck the Rumble Bee is dressed as — unhurried low down, then loud and willing once it is past about 4,000 rpm.

Chrysler revived the HEMI name for this engine family in 2003, and the Rumble Bee badge on the tailgate revives Dodge’s own 2004 Ram Rumble Bee — which was itself a nod to the 1968 Super Bee.

Despite the name, the modern 5.7’s combustion chambers are not true hemispheres — Chrysler uses a flattened variation on the shape.
Each cylinder gets two spark plugs rather than one, for a cleaner, more complete burn.
A cylinder-deactivation system shuts down four of the eight cylinders when the truck is just cruising.
