Dual-Motor Electric

Two motors, one at each axle, deliver the silent rear-biased shove that defines BMW's electric flagship — unhurried rather than violent, tuned so the car gathers speed without ever disturbing the cabin it is carrying.

This is the first 7 Series to run BMW's sixth-generation eDrive, the cylindrical-cell architecture developed for the Neue Klasse iX3 and i3 and folded back into the flagship at its mid-life update, built alongside the combustion 7 Series in Dingolfing.

The sixth-generation cells are about 20 percent more energy-dense, so the pack grew in capacity without growing in size.
Peak DC charging climbs from 195 kW to 250 kW, cutting a 10-80 percent stop to roughly 28 minutes.
BMW's eDrive motors are built without rare-earth magnets, a deliberate supply-chain decision.
The 50 badge no longer means rear-wheel drive — it replaces the outgoing rear-drive eDrive50 with all-wheel drive as standard.
