Reaches farther on a charge than most electric sedans anywhere near the money
Carries the quietness the nameplate built its reputation on into a drivetrain that was already silent
The charge port matches the connector most of the country's fast chargers already use, with an adapter in the boot for the rest

Single Permanent-Magnet Electric Motor

One permanent-magnet motor driving the front axle, tuned for the smooth, unruffled delivery the ES has always traded on rather than for the shove electric cars are usually sold on.

The first battery-electric ES, built on a multi-pathway platform derived from the TNGA-K architecture and re-engineered to take combustion, hybrid and fully electric drivetrains in the same body; a Lexus first, shared with the hybrid ES sold alongside it.

The battery sits flat in the floor under the cabin, which is why the electric car gains interior room over the petrol ES rather than losing it.
A smoothed nose with almost no cooling apertures drops drag to 0.25, and that aerodynamic work is worth more range here than extra battery would be.
Choosing the larger wheels costs fifteen EPA miles, a penalty EPA certified separately rather than averaging away.
The car ships with a North American Charging Standard port and a plug adapter for the older connector, rather than the other way round.
