The engine

FireFly

1.0L 3-cylinder Mild Hybrid

A light, eager little three-cylinder tuned for low-speed city efficiency, with a 12-volt electric assist that fills in torque and makes stop-start nearly seamless.

Part of Fiat's FireFly (Global Small Engine / GSE) family, developed largely in Brazil and built at the Betim plant in Minas Gerais; Stellantis is now rolling FireFly engines into Europe to replace the older PureTech units.

The mild-hybrid setup replaces the conventional alternator and starter with a small belt-driven motor, adding roughly 4 hp and a touch of torque.
The FireFly family launched in 2016 in naturally aspirated form under the Brazilian Fiat Uno before spreading across Fiat's small-car range.
Betim's FireFly line passed its 500,000th engine milestone, underscoring how central the engine is to Latin American Fiat production.
