Internally the M20A-FKS, it's part of Toyota's Dynamic Force family launched under the New Global Architecture (TNGA) program, engineered alongside the platforms it powers to standardize the Toyota and Lexus lineup.

It runs Toyota's D-4S dual-injection setup, combining direct injection with old-school port injection so it can switch between them depending on load.
Its 13.0:1 compression ratio is closer to a race engine's than a typical economy car's, made livable by very fast intake-charge tumble.
