A modern turbo-four that punches like a V6, serving up its torque from barely above idle for muscular, effortless mid-range pull rather than top-end drama.
Internally coded T24A-FTS, it is the largest member of Toyota's Dynamic Force engine family and first appeared in 2021 in the Lexus NX before spreading across Toyota and Lexus SUVs and trucks.
It runs Toyota's D-4S dual-injection system, combining direct injection with port injection to balance power, efficiency, and clean cold-starts.
A twin-scroll turbocharger feeds a water-cooled intercooler, letting peak torque arrive around 1,700 rpm for near-instant response.
The same engine block serves as the gasoline half of the hybrid powertrains in vehicles like the Lexus RX 500h and TX 500h.
