A light, eager three-cylinder with the characteristic off-beat thrum of the layout, paired with a 12-volt mild-hybrid system for frugal, nimble small-car driving.

An all-new three-cylinder developed by Suzuki for the fourth-generation Swift, replacing the older four-cylinder K12 and riding Suzuki's lightweight HEARTECT platform.

The switch from four cylinders to three improves fuel efficiency by up to about 8% over the engine it replaced.
Suzuki's obsession with low weight shows here: some Swift variants tip the scales at well under 1,000 kg.
Its 12-volt mild-hybrid system uses a small lithium-ion battery to recover braking energy and smooth restarts rather than to drive the wheels.
