Pairs the twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor sandwiched in the driveline for instant, seamless thrust; it can waft silently on battery or unleash combined system outputs that make it the most potent way to move a Panamera.

The newly developed 4.0-litre V8 is part of the VW Group performance-V8 lineage and is assembled for Porsche; the Turbo E-Hybrid sits atop the current Panamera range, building on Porsche's long-running E-Hybrid program.

• The electric motor is integrated between the engine and the eight-speed PDK, filling torque while the turbos spool.
• In the Turbo E-Hybrid the combustion V8 alone makes around 512 hp, with the motor pushing total system output well past 670 hp.
