AMG's hot-vee biturbo V8 delivers a deep, hard-hitting wall of torque, now bolstered by a rear electric motor for instant launch punch and a combined 831 hp. The character is brutal mid-range thrust with electrified shove off the line.

The 4.0L M177 V8 is hand-assembled at AMG's Affalterbach works under the 'One Man, One Engine' philosophy, where a single technician builds each unit; the E Performance hybrid layer draws on Mercedes-AMG's Formula 1 program.

• The rear-mounted electric motor and its battery use technology derived from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team's hybrid race cars.
• The electric motor delivers up to 204 PS in 10-second bursts through its own two-speed gearbox on the rear axle.
• Each M177 carries a small plaque signed by the individual technician who hand-built it.
