The engine

LF4

Twin-Turbo V6

A hand-built twin-turbo V6 that spins to a high redline and delivers a hard, urgent surge, giving the smallest Blackwing a ferocity that belies its compact dimensions.

The LF4 is a GM engine that debuted in the previous Cadillac ATS-V and was carried over and revived for the CT4-V Blackwing, keeping rear-drive and an available manual.

At its launch the LF4 was among the highest specific-output (horsepower-per-liter) production V6 engines GM had built.
Each unit is hand-assembled rather than mass-produced on a standard line.
The CT4-V Blackwing can still be ordered with a Tremec six-speed manual, a rarity in its segment.
