EcoBoost

Twin-Turbo V6

A forced-induction V6 that trades V8 displacement for boost, delivering torque-rich, low-rpm shove that made buyers stop missing the eight-cylinder in their F-150.

Ford's downsized turbo philosophy traces to the 2007 Lincoln MKR concept's 'TwinForce' engine, rebranded EcoBoost for 2008; the 3.5L entered the F-150 in 2011 and became the truck's defining powerplant.

The high-output version that debuted in the 2017 Raptor was later detuned to become the heart of the second-generation Ford GT supercar.
Its two BorgWarner turbos can spin up to roughly 170,000 rpm.
The second generation added port fuel injection alongside the direct injectors to combat intake-valve carbon buildup and feed the HO Raptor's higher fuel demand.
